Vietnamese home cooking is different than what you would imagine us to normally eat. Anyone that\’s NOT Vietnamese thinks that we eat pho, bun bo hue, spring rolls, egg rolls, etc. at home. But in reality, we only eat those on special occasions and special treats. There are so many different Viet comfort food that many don\’t know about, and that they are not served in any restaurant.

I will show you what a traditional Vietnamese home cooked meal looks like. You will see exactly how most traditional Vietnamese harvest the vegetables from their backyard to cook a family meal.

A complete and balance Viet meal have 3 dishes, and is eaten with rice. One main meat/seafood dish, one vegetable dish, and one soup dish. I cooked up a crispy fried lemongrass pork belly for the main dish. Steamed ong choy (rau muong) for the vegetable dish, and a refreshing gourd and shrimp soup.

Oh, and don\’t forget about the chili pepper and fish sauce!
