\”Corn is not a Vietnamese ingredient in ANY dish\”. How should a Vietnamese chef, like myself, take it when I was presented this? I was in awe. To actually see a Vietnamese person, with the same last name as me, said the most ignorant thing I have ever heard. It\’s time to educate these group admin bullies.
We Vietnamese grow corn in our backyard! How can we not have corn in our dishes?! This video is to call out some cyber bullies from a facebook group named \”VIetnamese Homemade Food\”. Just because you don\’t see the usual vietnamese dishes with corn in there, doesn\’t mean we don\’t use it as an ingredient in any of our dishes. It might not be popular such as pho, bun bo hue, com tam, spring rolls, etc. but it is still a part of our culture. People that grows corn in Vietnam makes dishes that is not marketed or sold. Homemade food is homemade food, we make up our own dishes that are probably unknown to many.
If the group is called \”Vietnamese Homemade Food\”, it is just as it should be. I did not break any rules when I post a seafood boil, that was made at home, by me, a vietnamese.
Because of this frustrating experience, I made a few recipe videos using corn to educate these ignorant people what vietnamese dishes are made from corn. Bap xao ruoc, che bap, xoi bap, bap nuong mo hanh, lau bap dui bo xa ot, etc.
